19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid year, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Victory also means he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet defended 4 initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
