The Turin club are desperate to tie down the 20-year-old to a lengthy agreement but face a battle to retain one of the continent's brightest young talents.

K. Smit

This much-admired Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. Following starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ side. This 19-year-old is widely expected to make a major move in January. Newcastle United are believed to be leading the chase, but are facing strong competition from Real Madrid for a deal priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
